A Brief Tour of Narbonne - Including the Archbishop's Palace and Horreum

Take a trip through gorgeous countryside and medieval cities of southern France.

Your Canal du Midi barge cruise may include a visit to Narbonne, a Roman Mediterranean capital where the Visigoth monarchs once lived. Our guests enjoy touring the Archbishop's Palace and Horreum, and also exploring the indoor market at the hub of this bustling town, where you will have time to shop or simply absorb the relaxed atmosphere.

Narbonne is a commune in southern France in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. It lies 849 km from Paris in the Aude department, of which it is a sub-prefecture. Once a prosperous port, it is now located about 15 km from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. It is marginally the largest commune in Aude, although the capital is the slightly smaller commune of Carcassonne.
